Photos: Another Kolodko mini statue has appeared in Budapest
Small works by sculptor Mihály Kolodko have appeared in several places in Budapest. Now another sculpture has been added to the Hungarian capital.
Auntie Aranka and Uncle Béla, the Pasarét florist couple, were prominent figures in the Buda district. Their kindness and philanthropy left an everlasting mark on people’s hearts. In 2021, an initiative was launched to commemorate the couple, who made the lives of the inhabitants of the district more beautiful and cheerful for decades.
The district’s leadership decided, with the agreement of the initiators, that the “stall” would never be the same without Aunt Aranka and Uncle Béla, and a new work of art was to be created in its place. It will remind people who pass by how much small gestures can make our everyday lives happier,” reads the Mayor’s post.
The sculptor Mihály Kolodko undertook the creation of the monument, which was completed on 25 August and placed in its place on Pasaréti Square.
The pair of statues, an aunt in a bonnet and an uncle in a cap clutching a potted flower, are perched in the middle of a large stone flower, surrounded by two high wisteria beds and a bench. You don’t have to look hard to find this Kolodko Art sculpture; anyone who wants to remember will find it in no time.
